The Chocorua Legend tells of colonists and indians warring. A bunch of them ended up dead. From the peak of what is now Mount Chocorua, a retreating Chief Chocorua cursed the white man that he thought killed his son, even though it may have been an accident. Chocorua then jumped off the cliff. Later the white man was found on the mountain eaten by wolves. The lake and mountain are so named. It is a pretty place.
