Castle Island in Southie is worth a visit. Parking is free in the lot and along William J. Day Boulevard. The scenic walk around Pleasure Bay is 2 miles. Stop at Sullivan's for some clam chowder. Fort Indepenence offers free tours. There is a beach for sunbathing and swimming.
